population 475 at that time. Weston
has now grown to almost 600 people
The business was greatly aided by
a full-length article in the 1952
Saturday Evening Post, entitled
"The Happy Storekeeper of the Green
Mountains". There was hardly a soul
in America who did not read the
Post in those days.

We have shopped this store for many
years now but this year I have found
the best gift for my mother. She
is from New Orleans and her entire
family still lives in and around
that area. They were all affected
by Hurricane Katrina including her
mother who lost everything. She
lost her home and everything in
it including all of the keepsakes
and such from when my mother and
her siblings were children. My mother
and I were looking through the catalog
and she started yelling and carrying
on about an item. It was a Christmas
stocking EXACTLY like the one she
had growing up. She was very sad
that all those things were lost
in the storm so I have purchased
the stocking from her childhood
and my siblings and I are giving
it to her all together. I know it's
not the same but hope that she will
love it just the same!
