BMG has brought a new wrinkle to CD marketing. These are the guys that were famous for offering you 12 CD’s for a penny if you just bought four more CD’s from them within a year. With on-line music being what it is today that little niche has all but dried up. Now BMG has a new way to give you the latest releases and still keep you in their fold. They launched YourMusic.com. This is an on-line CD retailer with a subtle twist, you have to be member. Before you groan too loud you should read a little more.

How YourMusic.com works

The principle is rather easy to understand. You sign up with YourMusic and begin to create your own “queue”. This is basically a list of CD’s that you want to purchase. Once a month they ship the CD at the top of the list to you for $5.99. They only ship one, not the whole list.

You are able to change the order and selections on your queue at anytime. You can also choose to purchase anything at anytime for the same $5.99 per CD price. Shipping is always free and there are no additional fees. It is almost too easy. The skeptic in me always looks for the catch.

The catch is you be charged $5.99 on your billing date whether or not you have a disk in your queue. There is the chance that you will be charged and not receive a CD. The solution to this potential problem is to keep your queue filled up and check the site once a month or so to see what the latest releases are and refresh your choices.
